A lot, I think, in particular of the smaller shops. And Joe White as an example does such an incredible good job that for many luthiers it actually makes sense to outsource it because it is just better. Some luthiers, like Bruce Sexauer, believe that the finish is such an important part of the end product that they would never outsource it, but for many it is just too much and too difficult and they have too little experience in finishing.
