I have not really played enough of the 14 series to know how it would do level wise with a bunch of dreads. And if like most of jambs I have gone to when it is your turn to pick a lead it should not be a big problem ..If however you find yourself being drowned out while strumming rhythm there is always the option to capo up and transpose for the key. Or put on a set of lights and Nashville tune.
As some have noted sometimes some few participants in Bluegrass Jams can reflect varying amounts of insecurity about anything they personally consider "outside their personal comfort zone and self imposed box". As far as crowd reaction to a Taylor, I always had a good deal fun just observing it, (when I showed up with my 810) and found the raised eyebrows , squirming, and even sometimes off hand snicker or remark, to be pretty amusing, telling, and worth the price of admission. YMMV
