That is an interesting question but one that has to remain speculative, unfortunately. There is no way to test the question one way or the other.
All I can say is that Osage orange has a nearly identical tap tone to old Brazilian and the results show that OO can hold its own with any exotic rosewood out there. Granted, the look is not what we are accustomed to with dark, ink-lined rosewoods. But I am reminded what Shakespeare in Hamlet said:
"Things are neither good nor bad but thinking makes it so."
