I currently have Santa Cruz Mid Tension strings on the J-45.
They are also my current favorite. But given that they cost $18 they
better last a long time to be a better value than EJ-16's which are
my second favorite. For me EJ-16's last about 3 months.

How to compare the sound of the two kinds of strings? The unbroken-in
sound of the SC Mid Tension is really different than the EJ-16's (kind of
chorus-y) but they seem to have settled in back in the direction of the
EJ-16's.

I can tell you what I didn't like on the J-45: Anything medium gauge,
Aluminum Bronze, Martin Retros, anything 80/20, anything coated.

OTOH, on the CEO-7 I really like Martin Retros and now SC Low Tensions.
The Retros last 6 - 7 months for me. The Low Tensions will have to last
more like 12 to be worth it value-wise.

Sorry for the ramblings...
