I’ve had Klipsch, Bose and JBL systems over the years and while SONOS might not provide quite the same level of audio output, I think they are excellent and make me happy. The system is simple and pretty bulletproof, while delivering high quality sound that is very easy to add to. Check out the videos.
This seems like a thing:

"Pair two speakers and each smartly adjusts to mono for more detailed stereo separation and an even wider soundstage."

I'm not sure how to make the music quit coming out of my iphone and start
coming out of the speakers? Is "apple airplay" what does that? I long ago
digitized all my CDs and mostly that is what I used on my ipod. Yesterday
I transferred all of it over to my iphone from my linux laptop in a way that
didn't involve any itunes-like programs. Now when I look in "files" there's
a bunch of directories named after artists and those directories contain
directories named after albums and the album directories contain m4a
files that have songs in them. When I drill down to a song and mash the
button, the song plays, and then I have to manually pick another song
to play it, so that's a down-side. I can probably point some app at the
directory where everything is contained (apple airplay? Ida know...)
and it will "randomly" pick songs or play whole albums and keep going.
Apps like itunes seem to have evolved towards streaming off of
spotify or something since way back when I used it on windows on my
home computer. I've just managed my songs for my ipod and on my
computer with the linux app "rhythmbox" for some number of years
now. Perhaps there's some way for my linux laptop to send music to
some sonos-like solution? I don't care if the music source is my iphone
or my laptop, they're both sitting right here ...
