My guess, is that it is a visual defect (bearclaw) on the inside surface of the top, but it could potentially be a chisel scar because it is adjacent to the tone bar. That said, it is awfully long compared to the type chisel typically used to carve braces (e.g., 16 to 20 mm is common). I can ask them about it after the Holiday break. Either way, I am not concerned about it…

Regarding the bridge plate, that is not split. The dark line towards the x-brace is just part of the figure of the maple.
