Thanks but I'm no longer confused.
I have a rather deep background in Electrical and Nuclear engineering so I'm capable of understanding quite a lot given accurate information on new things.
It was that 'reducing dynamic range makes it louder' statement way back in the thread that caused the confusion.
Was there a knob labelled that way long ago which created that myth?
