Ramped slots are part of their pinless design. There's several pics on their website of it. Alistair emailed me back and said they can do that with a fan fretboard no problem.

I had said that I prefer a bass heavy sound, and he suggests a 25.5" - 26.5" scale length fan for that.

Now I have commit to a SL range. I'm leaning towards going with his recommendation. I don't see much of a downside to going with 25.5-26.5. A Martin D35 has a 25.4" Scale length, so the high E would have a similar tension on my pinky. The 26.5" bass side ought to project great. But, I am debating with myself on maybe dropping that range down a bit for playability on the high strings. I'll measure my guitars today to get a better focus on it.

Being in my 60's now, I'm not as studly as I used to be. Hey, that could be my next song 'Not As Studly As I Used To Be'.
