FWIW my last 2 Greenfields I chose the woods (under the guidance of Maestro Watts!).
My next 2 I've pretty much left all the decisions to Mr G. Concert classical is due later this year; I have no idea what woods he's choosing for that! G3 due next year; he's picked out some particularly naughty BRW & spruce-from-the-moon for the top.
TBH he could probably make Balsa over MDF sound like a piano so I really wouldn't worry too much
