The other options for Audio focused users might include the iMac or Mac mini BUT currently the Mini does not offer the i9 processor option and is 6 core max (perhaps that has to do with heat buildup ?) Where the iMac has i9 and 8 core max . But with both offering TB 3 connections that does make external SSD possibilities (like the new Samsung X5 TB3 external SSD) equal to the performance of internal 16 lane PCIe SSD's...... the big question would be possible video editing . The Mini I would want would be at $2500 and the iMac $3800.... Hopefully by the time I am ready, the specs for both will have moved up the processors and graphics as well. Or the MP will offer a wider range of base config options and be more enticing price wise
