Luthiers who specialize usually have a bit of baggage on their title, so; piano Luthier, or, violin luthier, or of course, guitar luthier. Having built instruments in the three major categories (plucked, bowed, and struck) I am indeed comfortable being "simply" a luthier.

I still have my first Coo'stik Dominator, as well as the last. I actually refer to the last as a Coo'stik Harmonizer, as it was built to sound beautiful as opposed to powerful. If any of you caught my band with Eric Scoenberg and Larry Mersereau, @Risk, performing at the HGF that happened at the Dominican College in San Rafael way back when, you heard the first C'Dom then. Or perhaps you were distracted by the 1929 OM 28 Eric was playing.
