dang, that is some good looking rosewood. I found the plank that the set came from at a salvage store stuck over in the corner with various old doors and pine paneling. Just wood prospecting. The owner of the store thought it was Honduras rosewood and priced it accordingly. Nevertheless the price was right and like any prospecting, its just fun to find something useful. From the level of oxidation on the outside of the plank it was pretty clear that it had been cut long ago.
