Got a whole bunch of work done on the headstock today. Here it is partially cleaned up and with tuning machine holes drilled...
And a bit farther along...
As I mentioned this is my first attempt at binding a headstock. It took a little bit of figuring, but I settled on a pretty simple way to cut the binding channel (which I forgot to take a picture of) and it went pretty smoothly!
Some of the strips installed...
And bound!
Of course I couldn't just leave it at that! I knew I wanted to have a center section on the headstock that went with the theme of the guitar and decided to do it after gluing the head veneers and binding. I think it's crucial to have this inlay in line with the slots in the head and I didn't want to risk something slipping while gluing. So, here's where I left it at the end of a long day...
Hopefully by tomorrow a finished headstock!
