Is this a problem mostly associated with opening and closing these stands a lot, or is it just keeping the clamp mechanism engaged a lot? I have a double stand, but I basically open it once per year, use it to hold two guitars for three months, then close it up and leave it closed and sitting in my basement for 9 months. We relocate three months per year and it’s my storage at our winter rental place. But I’m not a gigging musician who’s opening and closing my stand a lot. I’d say mine is about a year and a half old - I’m in the second winter of using it at the moment...
Do they tend to just suddenly fail when they’re holding guitars or do they usually come apart while squeezing the clamp to set up or break down the stand?
