The guitar work is extremely good for just one year.
As to the vocals, definitely get a capo, and try playing it capo'd at different places to find the right vocal range for your voice. Or learn to play it in a different key (a lot harder, at least for me . . but it might sound better than capo'd . . only one way to find out . . try both).
