Yes, nylon will stretch a bit before settling in. I prefer fluorocarbon strings (high g) with the wound C (third string) string. That third string can sound a bit tubby and lifeless to my ears. Blends so much nicer and so much more sustain with a wound third. Uke strings are just classical strings repackaged so you can get them anywhere and most offer singles. Lot's of possibilities to mix and match to dial in the sound you are looking for. I use Savarez Alliance (carbon) trebles and a LaBella silver wound for my third string.
