The way I treat the Cargo is as a 12 fret guitar that has some extra reach. for those of us who arrange and/or write the tunes rather than trying to play somebody else's arrangement, we control where on the guitar the tune will lie.

I now have a McPherson Touring honeycomb carbon fiber guitar in addition to my Cargos. It also has a 22.75" scale. For whatever reason, its higher frets seem easier to work with than the Cargo. It doesn't feel as cramped at all.
