I’m not an engineer but I’m curious if it doesn’t have something to do with the rail-voltage or that preamp. I think it’s 18volts and 1mohm input, I’m curious if that voltage and impedance headroom allows all the subtleties that the pickup reads to become audible in a way a lower voltage or lower impedance preamp couldn’t. Who knows. I could be making things up.
