Default short instrumental try

I've been trying to make up an instrumental song the past few days (in dadgad) and have tried to record a rough version of it.

There are some bad notes in it, I know, and would like to keep practicing it. I am just not sure if it is worth the practice - I would like to make songs like this, but not sure if this is the right approach.

I have tried years ago to do things like this, but never really liked what I came up with, so I took up more folk-type playing. But I thought I'd try again, because I like music like this.

It's only 45 seconds long (there are two parts, but I did not repeat them) and since it's July, I called it that:
July

Again, it is rough - but would really appreciate any advice on writing this kind of music. Is it too boring, not enough melody, too simple? I don't have a lot of people to play for and aprreciate any comments.
