The standard of the studio industry is the AKG 240 series. The current version is the 240 Studio. At the studio where I work we've got 240s that have been in service since 1980. They've had replacement ear pads but just keep chugging along.
The real benefit of the 240 series is that they can be worn for long periods of time without fatigue, due to a really comfortable suspension system and a frequency response that doesn't fatigue the ears. You can find flatter ones, ones the have more high or low-end, more efficient ones, etc., but I've never found any that are comfortable for as long by even a half.
