Could be none of the above. Could be:
A) Doesn't care
B) Has no wish to have a debate with a customer that may/may not even be buying
C) Doesn't want to get it wrong and chewed out/fired for losing GC money
D) Just dealt with a difficult customer or employee and doesn't care to engage w/someone
Along with myriad other reasons.
Personally, the folks at my local GC are typically friendly and more often than not, helpful. The guitars in stock are mostly in pretty poor shape for new guitars. Missing knobs, missing strings, (SUPER) high action, rusty strings, etc are the norm.
