I solved the either/or question by adding a Strat middle pickup to my Tele.
So effectively, I had a tonal hybrid tween the two.

I added a five position switch, so had lotsa tonal options.
Positions 1 and 5 were pure Telecaster.
Positions 2 and 4 (plus 3 of course) had the Strat quack.
It was a fun guitar!

But to the Original Post, if only one, I’d take a Tele over a Strat.

Sounds like a Fender Deluxe Nashville if I'm reading you right. It's the only electric on my wish list right now.
