Smile wood for guitar building....

I was at my college reunion over the past weekend. Was reminded that Vanderbilt's campus is a treasure trove of wood...albeit living wood! It's a designated National Arboretum with over 400 species of trees on campus - all labeled with species names and many of them are old and big. I started thinking of this in light of the recent wood acquisition by Steve and Ryan. Wow, a lot of beautiful trees....but, of course, not there for the turns out that when the trees do come down, Vanderbilt salvages the wood, mills it and stores it for future projects around campus as accent pieces, etc. Anyway, interesting fact a little side topic on the thread!
