I fail to see how cloning has anything to do with polymer sciences, but you're also talking about a 20 year time span with cloning.
Its not a simple matter to work on a scale the size of a cell, and health problems are inevitable anyway. They DO grow cartilage without any real problems...so it moves along. There was also a time when the very computer you are typing on now was unfathomable...just as the capabilities of quantum computing will be one day. We play with what God has made "perfect" all the time. If we didn't then we wouldn't be driving cars or anything else.
