I prefer some reverb, some delay/echo, a graphic EQ, and a touch of compression.
Try out Fishman, Baggs, Tech 21 or Roland direct boxes. Each one has different features.
Also, try out DOD acousTEC, or Zoom 504. You're bound to find something that'll suit you.
