Not sure about using 14s, but:
1. I use Pierre Bensusan Wyres DADGAD strings on my McIlroy (13,17,23,32,42,56) and the tone is amazing -- might be a more practical alternative;
2. I regularly tune the EXP16s (12s) on my Morgan and Stonebridge down to CGCGBbC for specific songs with no issues; and
3. Alvarez's ABT60 is a relatively cheap way to experiment with a baritone -- and I like mine (just wish it had a 1 3/4" nut).
