Specifically, when I turn it down with this pot it cuts about 50 per cent of the volume in the first 20 per cent of the dial rotation. After that, the reduction in volume seems linear (I think; who knows?).

Does this sound like a malfunction in this control to anyone?

Is it just the way this control on this model of modern Jaguar is supposed to work?

Any comments/recounted personal experience/wild guesses are welcome. Even mere speculation can be worthwhile and entertaining. Anyone care to comment?
I'm gonna take a wild guess. Maybe it has something to do with it being linear or audio taper. You might want to look into that. If so, just swap the pots to which one you want. I'm not techy at all, but what I do know is that I want my pots to sound as true to the numbers as possible, meaning a 1 should sound like a 1, a 2=2, etc. Some pots only respond to volume change when you're only halfway so anything between 1-5 doesn't have much effect, and a huge volume increase past 5 which I'm not really into.
