I agree - it definitely is expensive and the additions add up quick! Given that it's a thread asking for suggestions, it seemed a shame to not throw up a few examples!
I'm a bit torn about it. It looks really cool to have a swoopy end. When I had an X20 I did find it fun to tap harmonics on the 24th fret, which you can't do if you chop it off. Plus it's $200 that could be spent on a custom scale length or profile, which make a much bigger difference.
