(Mississippi) John Hurt is a good place to start (as others have pointed out in other parts of this message board). Some of his stuff is not easy for one reason or another, or there will be just one move that's a little hard, but I'd say a good one to start with is Richland Women Blues (sounds like "The Midnight Special" by CCR and others). Play it in C and alternate the bass strings as you go.
