He wrote a column for Guitar Player Magazine called "Eclectic Electric" where he explored the rise of musical technology and the practice of music production. Then he sort of disappeared at the end of the '70s. It turns out that he was struck by the parallels between musical technology and the technology being used for missile defense. He wrote a theoretical article that caught the eye of some people in the Pentagon and the next thing you knew he was whisked away into work as a defense analyst specializing in out-of-box thinking. He still contracts for the Pentagon but does sessions and concerts with various concerns in the music industry. He's an extremely intelligent guy.
