FYI--I bought my new D-18 from a mom and pop store a couple of years ago.
They beat even the "secret handshake" price. Actually, they discounted it so when they added sales tax the price was equal to the "best price" discussed here. And i didn't even have to ask. I played it for a while and he said, "Do you like it? Take it home! Here's what I can do..."
Either way--great price, got to play it before I bought it, and didn't have to wait for it to be shipped. He even threw in a new set of strings.
