It doesn't have a lot of sustain like an acoustic, but the p90 pickup is full and warm. I have 11-52 nickel strings on it.
I have a Kingpin as well, it's a backup to my Heritage, but a very enjoyable guitar in it's own right.

If I ever need another electric I'd go one level up to their "Composer" model as I like the single pickup cutaway idea...but I'd replace the stock pickup with a humbucker sized P90...that P90 archtop sound us just classic. Everytime I plug in that Kingpin everything that comes out in my playing sounds soooo 1957...and I mean that as a good thing.
