That's a beautiful LP! In fact, it looks very similar to mine, which I bought in 2002 -- hard to believe that was 20 years ago now. Mine has the same kind of flamed top, the same heritage cherry finish. I was just playing it yesterday; man, it sounds good.
My case has an extra purple flap of material to cover the guitar in the case before the lid is closed. As you note, it's a tight fit.
