No, not tradition considerations. I just like the sound better most of the time and a better sound better serves the music.
Of course "better" is subjective.

I do like good quality reverb (in moderation). I do like the sound of certain acoustic guitar pickups (mainly used to smooth
out the sound and round out the low frequencies).
