Friday the 13th was a good day this year. I was feeling like I had a little extra capacity, so I decided to satisfy some curiousity and build a 13 fret OM. I want to see if the tonality falls between 12 fret and 14 fret. It will be a challenge to keep that detail in mind as I build, I know the force of habit will make itself known along the way. I did once accidentally inlay an octave marker at the 13th fret.
OK here are the specs:
OM 13 fret
25.4" scale
Top: Moon Spruce from Switzerland, flamed master grade
Back and Sides: Koa I purchased from a sawmill in Kona, HI in 2017
Neck: Modified V (not sharp edged, nor too beefy), with a bird's beak neck joint
Trim: macassar ebony with double green line
Headplate fretboard and bridge : macassar ebony
Finish: Oil Varnish
I am making a pantograph pattern for the modified V, so I have an extra neck here. I haven't yet given it it's final shape, but once I do it will provide the shape to all that come after.
This guitar is not currently spoken for
It would be rather nice if I didn't sell it, as I could have a guitar in hand to show. The sister to this guitar was also a spec instrument, but it only made it to the 17th of July before it sold. Consider this one for sale.
