Default 2010 McPherson MG-4.0XPH, Brazilian Rosewood/Flamed Redwood

Another livewire Jumbo MG from the fine folks at McPherson. This 2010 4.0XPH is decked out with top shelf figured Brazilian Rosewood and gorgeous Curly Black Redwood on top—something of the most eye catching tonewoods we’ve seen in a long while. The McPherson team obviously knows tonewood. The deep figure of the top comes alive under light, with large central curl tastefully transitioning into wide flame along the periphery. And that’s just the visual aspect: tonally, the Redwood and BRW work together for a powerful bass register that pairs nicely with a sweet, present midrange, and smooth trebles. Notes have great blossom and bloom when played with fingers, growing stronger and fuller as they ring out. Whether you play fingerstyle or with a pick, you'll appreciate the venetian cutaway and L.R. Baggs pickup system for both recording and live performances.

here's an additional demo with our own Al Petteway: https://youtu.be/gorUFdXte1E

"I can't say enough about McPherson's rare, gorgeously figured 'Black' Redwood tops. This one in particular has a dark allure that draws you in, making you want to play just a little longer every time. Its bass and treble are balanced, whether played lightly or with a heavy pick. And with the added warmth and bell-like shimmer of Brazilian Rosewood, this 4.0XPH is a fantastically well-rounded instrument. Some of the most sought-after McPherson Guitars combine Brazilian Rosewood and Flamed Redwood. It’s become iconic for the brand. And this one is simply stunning head to toe. And the good news is the voice matches the looks." - Paul Heumiller

"Another beautiful instrument with lots of figured wood and a modern design that can be used for strumming or picking." - Al Petteway

Price: $15,450
