A RedEye has a 200+ hour battery life with an alkaline battery (in order to run off phantom power it needs to be a very low power device). It is hand assembled but tightly packed. Your tech might need to use the battery space to place a (presumably the standard negative tip 5.5/2.1 mm OD/ID) jack. I think you could safely put a new not rechargeable lithium 9v battery in it and have 10 years of service.
