I try consciously to not sound like I'm trying to sound like the original artist. I also have this thing about not doing the same tired songs everyone else plays.
Neil Young was a huge influence on me. But I don't play "Heart of Gold", "Needle", "Old Man" or anything from CSNY when I perform. I play "Captain Kennedy", "Pocahontas", "Star of Bethlehem", etc.
