I would think that they would be considering all types of pickup systems. The thing is that I am not expecting the Session DI to have a dramatic impact on the acoustic tone like you would expect from the Aura imaging. From my understanding of saturation and compression, it sounds as though they are going for the cleanest and warmest tone possible live. I would expect a fuller sound as well. Obviously this is only an assumption but I can't see it making a UST for example suddenly sound like a microphone.
