Capo on the first fret, hold down the string over the fret where the neck meets the top (12,13 or 14). There should be a bit of light under the 6th or 7th fret. This is the relief. I like mine about 0.004-0.006”. The nut slots should be cut to the fret heights. I measure the first fret height then place feeler gauges to that height next to the nut and file parallel to the head stock. Finally I prefer action measured from the top of the 12th fret to the under side of the string to be 0.095” on the bass E and 0.060” on the treble e. That just about 3/32” and 2/32” respectively.
