What “plastic thing” under the metal? Only thing under the saddle pickup should be is your bridge. If you mean it’s shimmed. Get a new saddle for $15 and refit it. I think uour $2K plus Guitar deserves it.

Btw, I absolutely LOVE my Songwriter.
