Palo escrito, a wood often used for requintos, small guitars tuned to ADGCDA. Though it is a type of rosewood, Dalbergia palescrito, it doesn't sound like Indian or Brazilian rosewood.
Mexican rosewood is Dalbergia granadillo but many people use common names for more than one species of wood.
