Hey Everyone. The past couple of days I was at the local guitar shop playing a used La Patrie Collection (solid cedar top, solid rosewood back/sides). It has a new set of strings and the G-B-E strings were black (not from dirt). I asked the sales guy and he thought they were extra tension strings.

Anyway, does anyone know what the black strings might signify? Are they extra tension? Perhaps multiple manufactures have G-B-E black strings for different purposes but I'm guessing not? Thanks.
