I'm not the best guy to ask regarding neck size as I generally find people's association between neck size/shape and playability to be highly exaggerated. To me, it goes in the same basket as scale length, BRW and fanned frets. It just doesn't make as much of a difference as some people would like to believe it does (or persuade others into believing that it does).
So yes, the neck is "thicker" than the typical Olson -- but by Jim's own words, it still isn't that thick of a neck. That's pretty much how I feel as well.
As for "The Tree" mahogany, I know of some luthiers who stock a few sets but I wouldn't know whether they want to sell it. I would love to own another guitar with this tonewood myself!
