It's so ironic we have now had way above average rainfalls the last 3-4 months & the place is so green & lush (in some parts anyway, further west from here some areas are still officially in drought but still doing much better than 12 months ago & in many areas close by the bush/forests burnt in the fires were devastated to the point it will take years/decades to fully recover).
What is of concern to me now is that because of all the recent sudden growth there will be a heightened risk of grassfires as summer sets in. Last summer most of the danger was in the forests as there was hardly any grass around to burn.

The concern in California is mudslides, and it's a given. The only question is if there are more homes in the path. Take out the vegetation and steep hillsides will fail with a healthy rain, which is inevitable.
Going to be an interesting few years.
