I don't think a species capable of interstellar travel would need earth resources. In many respects we live on an unremarkable rock, with millions
probably similar to our own.

I think that curiosity is probably fundamental to advanced civilisations. Hopefully they just want to check us out.

Humans are coming round to the idea that most animals are best left to themselves in their own environment. A sort of earth based Prime Directive.

Aliens will probably leave us alone until we prove ourselves civilised enough to converse with.
