My first Open Mic (two originals)
I played my first Open Mic yesterday. Messed up some lyrics, missed a few chords, but played through the mistakes.
After I was done (I went first), one of the hosts said he wanted to talk to me later. I assumed he was gonna say something to me about Kylie Rae Harris (to whom I wrote the second song, "Convince My Heart", after her tragic death).
Instead, he told me he wanted to record the first song, "Three Lefts". What? I wrote that song on Jan 3, 2021 . . . just 11 days before this Open Mic.
And I wrote that song in less than eight hours (without working on it the entire time). And the music literally just came to me. I just stared at the lyrics and started playing and singing.
