Joel, there’s nothing magical about how to work Maple to make it a great tonewood; it is a great tonewood. It’s very stable typically so you may be able to work it thinner than other woods. The reputation unfortunately comes from a time when factories were already turning out subpar guitars of every tonewood type. It just happened that that’s when many turned to maple as their primary alternative.
Some of the best guitars I’ve heard by great builders have been maple. Have no fear trying it out.
