Pono Guitars Update
I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who took advantage of our recent Pono Guitar sale. We accomplished our goal, which as a promotion, was to get them out to as many as possible. However we would rather not be a "music store" with occasional and seasonal sales, but instead to continue as a manufacturer selling direct to the public.
As for our various models, we have been an experimental and unorthodox small scale guitar maker. We make the usual standard and accepted designs, but also a few that are uncommon, vintage, and unusual. And it's been fun, and well accepted by the guitar community.
As for pricing, we have been advertising what we feel are realistic retail or list prices. In other words, what the guitar is really worth. In the retail business world it's common to post a retail and sale price for a product. This gives the consumer the true value, and then when discounted, the perception that they are getting a good deal. And that's ok, in retail business.
But at Pono Guitars we got slightly off track, we don't really want to be a retail music store. We want to be the manufacturer and for now, sell direct to the public.
Besides providing a good deal, and getting our guitars out there for more exposure, our primary motive was to inform everyone what the actual value would be for each model if sold in a retail music store. And in fact, if and when our guitars are sold in music stores in the future, the retail price will no doubt be higher.
So, for now we have restructured the marketing and sales of Pono Guitars. As mentioned before most will be made and sold on a custom order basis. And a few will occasionally be in stock and readily available.
As for "custom" options, we have received a wide array of requests lately. So to be clear, here are the only options that will be available:
1. Slotted or Solid Headstock
2. Abalone top purfling
3. Cutaway body
4. Gloss or Satin Finish
5. Sunburst Top
6. 12 String
Aside from the above options at an additional cost, all pricing will now be one set price. Which is below our previously posted "retail" and higher than previously posted "specials." But be assured, they are still priced as an excellent value. All guitars include a hardshell case. And all domestic US orders include free shipping. International shipping will be individually calculated.
