I looked into this when I designed my headstock logo - I know I wanted gold and home printers won't do that. I put all my effort into creating the best drawing I could for my logo, then paid for a sheet of gold waterslide decals. Just a better use of my time and money, and the result is 100% professional looking.
I used Rothko and Frost in the UK for mine, but I suppose there are loads of places in the US for this.
